As the new school year begins, the Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA) is welcoming their largest freshman class since they opened their doors in 2008.
The campus, which is an extension of Kathleen High School, has been extremely successful while educating young adults in the Polk County area. The school offers a rigorous curriculum which revolves around science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) based classes. It helps that the school is located at the entrance to the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus, near Lakeland Regional Airport. Students can take advantage of their specialized education while viewing their potential futures outside the classroom window.
Since the schools conception, the aerospace program has continuously grown. The largest number of students the school has held to date is 340. The school plans to welcome more than 140 freshman to the campus this year, taking their student population to 365 students from grades 9-12. The school offers different aeronautical based tracks for their students. The school also promotes scholarships for their students, helping them achieve success in their field before they’ve even graduated from high school.
The 2016-17 school looks to be a promising one for CFAA and Polk County residents. SUN ‘n FUN and the Aerospace Center for Excellence welcome students new and old to the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus and wish you all a prosperous year!
