Greg Holden, a senior at Central Florida Aerospace Academy on the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus, was awarded SUN ’n FUN’s 2016 Top Gun Citation of Merit. Greg received a $4,000 SUN ‘n FUN scholarship and a flight bag from SUN ‘n FUN business partner MYGOFLIGHT. He plans to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the fall. Greg earned his private pilot’s license last year and is well on his way to a bright future!
The Top Gun Citation of Merit is presented to the graduating senior student who has consistently demonstrated outstanding scholastic accomplishment, exemplary character and motivating leadership during their tenure at Central Florida Aerospace Academy. The Top Gun honoree is an example to others in not only academic excellence, but in service to their community. He or she has been a regular and visible participant in aviation related programs and events. The Top Gun’s standout performance and work ethic in all areas define him or her as an influential moving force in the future of the aerospace industry, supporting the SUN ‘n FUN and Aerospace Center for Excellence mission of building A Brighter Future Through Aviation.
Greg started volunteering at Aerospace Discovery at the Florida Air Museum as a sophomore. “His attention to detail and work ethic was immediate,” said Robb Williams, Executive Director, Aerospace Center for Excellence. “Over the past three years I have had the pleasure of watching Greg grow as a leader, and not only a leader, but a selfless leader that puts the needs of others above his own. Greg’s servant leadership is truly an inspiration to not only the staff of SUN ‘n FUN but his peer group as well. For Greg it was not just one event that made him stand out, it was the culmination of numerous events that showcased his drive, dedication, and care for getting the job done correctly.”
