wnt_poster_2013_web_grmail.aspxSUN ‘n FUN is “Building a Brighter Future Through Aviation.” Wings ‘n Things will be held October 25-27, 2013 on the SUN ‘n FUN campus. Aviation activities will introduce students, teachers, volunteers, parents, scouting organizations, church groups and more to the wonderful world of flight, as well as the citizenship skills and potential career options of the future. Presented with the assistance of Bendix King by Honeywell, campers and daily attendees will be instructed by Astronaut Nicole Stott, Janet Ivey from Janet’s Planet and more leaders in the aerospace industry such as Think Global Flight.

Hands-on activities will keep all students engaged in motivational settings. Rockets, glider building, digital simulators, astronomy classes, wind tunnels and weather machines have all been designed with STEM based teaching practices and will be offered in rotating sessions. The Central Florida Indoor Free Flight Club will offer instruction and demonstrations. Eco-systems on the grounds can also be incorporated into the design of scouting badges.

Every student can register for their first airplane flight as part of the registration fee. Space is limited for plane rides and all rides are subject to weather. The SUN ‘n FUN grounds are open for the weekend to include admission to the Florida Air Museum. Presented by Micro-Simulators, Inc., the F/A-18 Simulator will allow all guests to have their own “Top Gun” experience.

A family friendly environment is assured at SUN ‘n FUN. Evening movies for campers, a fire pit and full RV hook-ups are available. Attendees are invited to sign up for the “Reach for the Stars” Rocket Competition as an independent activity and also reserve a van ride to visit the Radio-Controlled airplane competitions. Pricing and scheduling can be found at www.sun-n-fun.org.
