Search and Rescue (SAR) is one of the Coast Guard’s oldest missions. Minimizing the loss of life, injury, property damage or loss by rendering aid to persons in distress and property in the maritime environment has always been a Coast Guard priority. The SAR demonstrations that will be performed during the Fly-In will showcase how the Coast Guard performs an out-the-door rescue of a person in distress from a MH-60T helicopter hovering overhead. They will perform evolutions that will demonstrate the capabilities and typical rescue techniques that are employed to render aid to persons and vessels in distress.
